few Q's:
what model got the under seat stacker as opposed to the boot mounted one? I know theyre different but when did ford swap them over? r they interchangeable? - ie ive got the boot mounted one in my EF2, can I just get the later model one and plug it up? also whats the specs on the factory mid and premium sound systems in the EF/EL...the premium says "250W" but is that RMS? and how many channels..

I think it was Feb 98 onwards that Ford changed the stackers design so they can fit under the front seat. You can also buy a specific bracket to do the job. However, the stacker control cable was different. The stacker end plug is completely different.
Easiest way to tell the difference between the stacker models is the small 98 ones had red writing on the front faceplate and a 2 piece sliding door. Mid series head units are 20w RMS per channel, with 4 channels. Premo systems are 250w RMS in total for all channels. 25w RMS for each front channel, and 50w RMS for each rear amplified channel, which channel 3 and 4 bridged in the amp internally to supply 100w for the sub. |

So instead of starting a new thread i thought i'd dig up this old one.
I have a EF with the stacker in the boot and it seems to skip endlessly when there is a little bass in the songs so i was lookin at moving it. So i gather they changed the stacker size between ef/el with the under the seat mounting? As i was thinking about relocating it there and if i could just get a el bracket would it fit? otherwise i'll just make up some sort of arrangement if it'll fit in the first place? |
