Hi Guys, I have some questions about the factory premium sound system in the EF-EL series.
#-1. Do both models have dash mounted tweeters?. #-2. If so where are they located and how are they removed?. #-3. I gather if thats the case they are a 7 speaker system?. Thankyou. |

The front tweeters are located on the top of the dash under the little grills on the sides.
You have to take out the panel covering them with the screws at either side. The speakers are counted as; 2 x doors, 2 x Front tweets, 2 x rear speakers, 2 rear tweets and sub. The rear tweeters are mounted coaxially with in rear speakers. |

Thanks Guys, Have I got this right that the rear tweeters are part of the rear speaker assembly?.
I think that is how I am reading it. Thankyou. DavidA. |

Yes, In the EF/EL Premo sound systm, the rear 6" parcel shelf speakers are '2way', an integral tweeter above the cone. This somehow declares 4 rear speakers (minus the sub).

How good does the premium system sound anyway? Assuming the speakers are in good condition.

i just added a sub to mine running off the factory amp and it is brilliant! only thing i cant fault it on is it doesnt have Ipod adaption it sounds as good as my mates BMW only thing is his sub goes much louder then mine as i dont have adjustable gains and what not, otherwise i dont really see the need to change it (my speakers are blown up the front though so they will be swapped out soon though)

The stock speakers imo are crap so i've replaced them with a bit more decent ones and it still doesnt sound all that too good, for some reason my rears dont give off a good sound and is not loud enough my fronts are awesome though. The DSP is cool.

the premo unit sounds realy good for a factory system, but as soon as you mis match components you will loose quality if components are different wattage, causing distortion. upgrading your sub and adding its own amp would be the best improvment without spending much money and having a good system.
