Hi Guys,
I am part way through installing a Pioneer Head Unit in my EF Falcon, however I have run into a couple of issues regarding mounting.

The issue I have is that the mounts from the stock head unit, the screw hoels on them to not match the new head unit, hence I am unable to mount the headunit.

Does anyone have any suggestions to a fix for my issue? Can I purchase a new set of mounting rails that will suit an after market head unit?

All the best, and many thanks!
Simon

Cheers

dont think so as most steros are in a cradle like what you would have got with your stero

Can talk with your local car audio dealer as you can get multi fit cradles but the majority of the time its just quicker an easier to mod your own to fit when you go to install it...saves money too.

Pain in the a** to install into and EF/EL?

Woah.... I'd have to say they're the most basic car to put an aftermarket head unit in.
Try a 2006 Focus.. now they're hard.

dido, not sure what planet GLI is from but they are a cinch, the screw straight onto most after market decks with either none or little modding. there is far worse out there mate, falcons are by far one of the easiest

I wouldnt say there the easiest. Ive installed many a stereo and the el was a mid level challenge. it requires a little thought. You have to drill holes in the standard brackets, bash peices of them flat and cut certain peices with snips.
The way i did it anyway im sure there are ways that are a little more simple but lack of tools means u make do with what u have.

Its a good challenge to take on as installs by car audio places are IMO overpriced considering the work they actually have to do. No offence to audio installers by trade its just how i see it.

Anyways best of luck with the install. Ive put some pics below too.

The pioneer H/U's are a little off square witht eh factory holes, mark and drill the bracket.

Did mine a few weeks ago, I thought it was obvious what needed to be done, so happy to share that info with you.

BTW what H/U did you get?

find a need fill a need - there's an idea for someone to make up brackets which adapt for the EF/EL - go forth and make millions :P
