Hey everyone.

I have the factory Premium sound system in my ef2 fairmont ghia, with the sub mounted to the parcel try. I am wanting to replace the speakers and sub.
Can i replace the speakers and sub without changing anything else.
I'm wanting to use one of these sub kits, Could this be run off standard head unit.

nope. the factory amp. It'll be in the boot, behind the RHS carpet panel. They aren't that high power.

Also, fusion sucks a***. Shallow subs suck, and 150wrms is laughable. They look pretty so people buy them. Buy the subs suck. It's the plain looking ones that you have to look out for......

Thanks for the advice, I guess the leads me to ask, Can i replace the factory amp to overcome this problem without changing factory headunit?

The reason I liked the sub kit is coz it came with a built in amp and all the wiring needed.

not sure. you may be able to buy a kit to do it. BUT most aftermarket amps run RCAs as the speaker headunit to amp cables. I believe the Ford units run a different cable

The factory system uses normal rcas at the amp end.

You can connect any amp to the factory rcas and trigger, just use larger power/ground wiring for a more powerful amp.

If you want more bass a 12" in a sealed box for example, you can run one off the factory amp. Just don't expect big power.

well there you go. i stand corrected. Wasn't entirely sure. But as said, standard amp is pitiful
