Hi Guys .. heres the pics of an intstall i did on my mums EL Wgn .. i think it turned out good .. what you think .. it was fun beacause it was really easy (and cheap .. lol) ..

Heres the pics

where i started - pattern marked out on MDF

{DESCRIPTION}

the base cut out

{DESCRIPTION}

The test fit

{DESCRIPTION}

{DESCRIPTION}

ill be using these to attach the panel the dash so it will be easy to push on - pull off.

{DESCRIPTION}

the new panel with the screen hole cut and the holes located for the install to keep it there

{DESCRIPTION}

after upholtery with the screen in.

{DESCRIPTION}

the final product installed .

{DESCRIPTION}

Im Pretty happy with it .. i made it 1" longer for more space for later but left enough space to put stuff under it still and be able to get to it ..

Looks good mate but I'm at a loss as to why you went to all the trouble of using MDF and re-trimming when it's a half hour job to modify your existing surround allowing you to keep you ashtray and cigarette lighter...

Hi MoNGooSE .. the reason i went with MDF was so i didnt have to modify the original fascia .. which like you said is easy .. and by the way it wasnt a trouble .. actually really really easy .. im doin upholstery as a trade so no probs there .. lol .. my goul was to make a removable panel .. so i could swap it out if need be .. this is actually a 1/2 hour job aswell .. it cost me less than $10.00 bucks to make .. by the way .. your cars awsome mongoose .. its very unique i think ..

Thanks man.. the only thing i would change if i were to do it again would be to caot the MDF in Fibreglass Resin .. for added strength .. it is strong but a bit too flexible for my liking ..

looks good, but i would have taken a little more care when stretching the vinyl over. its a bit lumpy where it has compressed the foam more in some places.
