Hey guys,

So the other day I was driving back from sydney when suddenly the CD stopped half way through a song, the bottom part of my headunit had written on it "7 Err".

When I pulled over it looked like the cassette in the stacker was stuck, I shoved a paperclip in the little hole and pulled it out manually and found nothing wrong.. I removed all the CD's and put it back in.. same error.. still stuck.

When I press the button to eject it, the housing makes a noise like its trying to eject it but that doesnt work.

Any ideas?

Mate, these stackers have a finite life when it comes to their mech chassis and gearing. Even the rubber rollers can start to go hard after a while, the PU can become too low in strength to kick the disc off to read the TOC... basically lots of things with these units can fail after years of use. I don;t have the error list from ASL so can't say which section has stopped working.
Mine has broken down for the 6th time last week so I am now in the process of upgrading to a new system as I've just had enough of pulling it apart and reassembling it to get it going for another 6 months at a time.

Just make sure you get the right stacker.

There are 2 different types and are not interchangable.

Your's being a 98 Ghia would be the later and smaller AU type stacker. Make sure the ebay picture matches your one before buying.
