not that im aware of, but last year sometime pyroay was trying to organise a group buy for a short production run of these items. The price could not be negotiated to $150 a pair (or something like that) and the plans fell through...

Yeah sorry guys no one sells them pre-fabricated....best bet apart from pyroay unless you could get a lot of interest to make it worthwhile is just hit up ya local audio store that does fibreglass work.

I made this set pictured originally for my car. There was heaps of interest from others for a set so I looked around everywhere at getting a limited number of sets produced. Initially I was looking to get 50pairs made.

Short Version
It is not viable to get a limited set produced and I did not think there was the market for 100’s of pairs of them.

Long Version
After days of phone calls (and I mean literally days of phoning places all over Australia) I was not able to find anywhere that could do such a small number and make it cost effective as the tooling cost is so high.

Cost was around $80 per set + between $3,500 - $5,000 initial set-up cost. The $3,500 place was only to produce them in white so I then have to get them coloured or vaccum formed. The $5,000 place was to get them done in one colour (grey)

$3,500 / 50prs = $70 + $80 per pr production + colouring ($40pr = $190 + freight to me then to you so around $220 per pair cost. That means up front I needed $11,000 to get 50pairs.

The other few quotes were around $80pr production (on 50pairs) and $5,000 set-up. That was for one colour so that’s $5,000/50 = $100 + $80 production = $180 + freight = $200pr cost.

Now if I add say $10pr to cover my mucking around and initial $11,000 outlay I would need to sell 50prs @ $210 - $230 per pair.

I was not confident that I could sell so many of the one colour, nor do I have $11,000…

You can make them your self by using some small plastic pipe that fits your tweeters. Then cut it to give the angle you want. Then get it plastic welded into position neatly. Then you need to fiberglass them and sand smooth, then send away to get vacuum formed.

Mine cost as follows
$35pr - A-Pillars from ford
$10 – plastic pipe
$35 – Plastic welding
$15 – Fibreglass and body filler
$120 – Vaccum moulding
$215 – TOTAL

+ labour if you get someone to fiberglass and get angles right for you (with laser sights etc…) $100

So $215 if you build yourself or $315 if you get them done at a store

Just an idea….

Can do, it's a completly different sound though, i think people are looking for that nice imaging cue that is provided with the tweeters in the a pillar location.

Any recommendations on a vacuum forming place?

When i did my doors i got an audio dealer to send them off for me.
I think he made a fair profit on me, so i'd rather deal direct if i can.

my doors cost me $550... for the vinyl vacuum forming, and the carpet insert at the bottom.

Vaccum forming i use the dashboard doctor in Melbhourne. His work is very good, his pricing is ok. Speak to him before you get the work done and agree on a fixed price...

If you cant fibreglass then either a store will have to do it for you or someone else, perhaps a boatbuilder. They work a lot with fibreglass.
