I have one fitted to my XR8, it has been trouble free so far, but just recently every time I disarm the alarm, it gives 3 extra chirps, I thought it might mean it has gone off, but even if I arm it and then disarm, it does its normal disarm chirp, and then about a second later it does 3 more chirps.

Does anyone know what this means???

Does anyone have the original alarm owners manual, if yes do you want to sell it or give it away, or just read it and tell me what the extra chirps mean.

Would love a copy of the original manual if anyone has one.

I did do a search on past topics and could not find any info that helped me out, and help would be appreciated.

I will be away till next week end, hopefully I will have some answers by then :D

Could be one of the doors is not shut properly or the earthing plunger button is not working.
My car did the same thing but it was the door earthing plunger/button on the pillar was bent and not getting pushed in by the door even when it was shut.
Check all 4, they are near the hinges on the pillars for all 4 doors. Its a little black plastic plunger.

No luck all switches appear to be fine and working....anyone else have any other ideas, getting desperate, might have to go and see ford to get some help.

Someone should have a decode for what the three extra chirps on disarming mean....just check your manual in your govebox, or sell it to me :D

i have been in the hunt for the factory alarm manual for about a year now as i need to remove mine. The battery is dead on mine and has been pissing me. This alarm is heavily wired on the driver side door and you need wiring diagram to properly remove it. Pls let me know when you find one or I can buy it off you after your finished with it.

Mate I will remove it for free, I know exactly how it wires up.

Where abouts are you located??? Will take me about 15-30 minutes and all will be fine, as long as I get to keep it, as I might use it as spares for mine...

What car is it in??

I am about 5 minutes from Liverpool

PM with my details send

heavily wired! lol its Plug and play.

It uses male / female joiners to connect it to the loom in the drivers side foot well without adding to original loom.

The drivers kick panel contains the 'brain/shock sensor and 3 fuses'.

Unplug it, and reconnect the 'original wires'

The 5 wires going through the firewall to the siren, can simply be cut and removed. the other is for the bonnet tamper pin.

Please disconnect the battery before operation.

The 3 siren chirps are the indication of Internal backup battery is dead as in 'stuffed', You can replace this fairly cheap, or even upgrade it to a better type.

This does require soldering and some silicon to stop the new battery moving.

Thanks for the info re the 3 chirps mate....will look into it not scared to do any soldering or work on car electrics, I have rewired several cars from scratch including building a custom loom for one.

Re the removal, your decription is 100% accurate, but if you are not sure what is going on, or electricals scare and confuse I would recommend not touching, as something might not work, and then you are stuck....but yes all plug and play!!!

Is there a part number for the correct battery and where would be the best place to get one??? Jay car, battery world etc???

Just go into Jaycar and ask for a battery for your ford car alarm, they should be on the ball with what battery is for what.

7.2v Ni-MH (standard rechargeable 9v)

However the 7.2 have been phased out and replaced with 8.4v Ni-MH

Nonethless, works fine.
