Just hoping for some advice from somebody with experience with the same problem.
My EF Ghia still has the factory elec aerial. It works perfectly on half height mode. However, once switched to full height, it starts slipping when it goes up or down, and consequently often ends up partially extended or retracted. I can hear the motor still working when it does this, only the mast of the aerial is not moving. This leaves me thinking of two possibilities: 1. Some gears of the motor itself are stripped and causing the slipping. 2. Some gears of the actual rope cable are stripped, causing the slipping. Option 2 Seems to be the case as far as I am concerned, as the aerial works perfectly going up to half height and back. This for me points to an area of the actual rope having stripped teeth. I plan to get a replacement rope and mast from Aerpro, as its less than half the cost of a recoed unit. May just be tricky to change, but I can lube it up and do some maintenance at the same time. Any experiences or advice is welcome. |

Rope is snafu...
Easy as pie to replace, get the replacement stork from you local autobarn or something they retail between 25 to 40 dollars. one you get the antenna out of the car, it is sorta self explaining once you look at the aerial and start distmantling.
