This is the design for one of two sub enclosures that I intend to be building during these holidays. These are going into a corrolla 2004 for my mate.
I'd like to see what you guys think of the shape not for looks but for efficiency of the subs. These boxes will be sealed. These are the subs being used: and here are the specs for the subs (SX12D4): {DESCRIPTION} So as I said. I just wanna know if the shape of the box will badly affect the sound of the subs. The volume can change if need be but the general shape is what I'd like to stay the same. The whole boot will be fibreglassed afterwards so thats only the enclosure shape, not the finished shape.

Is that meant to be an open port 80mm square? Or just there to get more volume?

no port. its a sealed box.
Just there to get more volume. Probably where the plate will go for the connectors.

Box shape should be ok it's hard to kno without poroper dimensions the size of tat funny shaped bit. If there is a small narrow piece of obox it will not effectively count towards the overall box internal volume.
What size does the box need to be as per the manufacturors recomendations? what size would it be without that funny part?

I've added that section to get the volume as close to 0.85 cuft as I can. This is what is recommended by the manufacturers. (0.75 ideal displacement but driver displacement is 0.1).
So does this mean that I should add more to that weird section? Only about 10% of the toal volume is in that area to make up volume. I haven't got measurements on me now but its about that.

by the way:
23.5 litres = 0.8298947 cubic feet so I'm pretty close to the values needed.

Then all should be fine i dont expect any problems there.
Might be an interesting box for you to build but if you've got the time then no problem.

Yeah, its all gonna take a lot of time and money for this install.
Its both me and a mate that'll be doing it on his car, he's never done anything like this before but he's pretty handy, where as I've done installs before but nothing like this. I will keep you all posted. Equipment being used is all directed audio as we want to build a car using equipment that is quite rare in australia, that I can get cheap and also because if we can pull it off, the rep will want to use the car for shows (he's a mate of mine). 2x 12" directed DVC SX subs (not the cheap ones) 1x 1200WRMS monoblock Splits and rears from directed audio as well!!! Capacitor and 2x 4g wiring kits (guess who from?) I'll keep you all posted with pics. Thanks to Aaron for your help.
