if its like a light whine and as you rev it harder it whines more high pitched, it could be that you need a supressor on the alternator, or another one added.

Where the hel did you come up with that one? "The RCA earth fuse inside your headunit could be gone." What sort of fuse are these? I have never heard or seen such a thing...

I might've been wrong about the word fuse, but this happened to a friend of mine in his Pioneer unit. Earthing the ring of the output connectors fixed the problem. Not perfectly, but 98% better. Take a look at the circuit diagram of one.

It won't be a fuse it would be some sort of capacitor used for dc isolation or something like that.....

Hey I am also getting an interference when the car is on, whigning noise when im accelerating. I have a pioneer headunit the an aux port at the rear, i have a portable dvd player set up in the centre console which iv connected the aux cable to so it plays through the speakers.
Iv shortened the aux wire hoping to reduce the interference but i havnt noticed much difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Dodgy installers (e.g. leaving power on why installing the HU) can cause the fuses to blow. Resulting in the earth on the RCA being no longer connected, this causes induced noise to have no where to go but into your amp. The fuses are internal to the H/U and must be repaired by Pioneer (and it's not warrantable, as it's poor installation that causes it).

If your warranty has run out, just replace it yourself, or do what I said earlier and just use some fig8 in the rings of the RCA, and ground them. Dodgy fix, but it's what needs to be done if you're not willing to buy a new headunit or open your existing one.

if you want a simple solution go to auto bar n/ super cheap and get a f**k i forgot the name of it but it has two male and female rcas and a box it absorbs engine noises and all that s**t should solve it but if you do't want to do that sheck the wires and run them different maybe (if you want to f**k areound)

Oh sorry forgot to mention that im not running any amps or subs at this stage, wanted to wait until i figured out how to stop the engine noise before i install them. Any ideas?

Well you can immeadiately rule out anything to do with dodgy RCA's, RCA fuses, or inline noise supressors.
Next question is, how do you know it's NOT a bad earth. One thing I like to do is run a dedicated earth wire back to a good earth point. Often the factory wiring is low grade, and not the best.

The RCA earth fuse inside your headunit could be gone. Get some wire, fig8 will do, and put it on the ring of your RCA outputs from your headunit, and ground them. Fire it up and see it that fixes it can someone please explain this a lil bit more in depth, whats fig 8 wire |
