What have you found wrong with your car after a poor installation. Even years later when you've gone to take things apart. What have you discovered.

The first owner of my car (I'm n.o 2). He had a mobile installed. The installer obviously had no idea about the EF Fairmont and raped the interior of the car.
He cracked and snapped 2 dash tabs.
On the A pillar plastic shrouds, he ripped off both, breaking all of the plastic fasteners that hold them to the car.
He destroyed some of the demister filaments on the back windows. The trim around the roof lining was sagging and loose due to broken clips.
Roof lining trim along drivers side was hanging out and warped because of the way the coax cable had been stuffed in it.
The dash surround that holds the CC, trip computer, and buttons had been pulled off, many fasteners broken, left to rattle away.
And my pet hate, drilling into the auto shifter shroud.
I've fixed 99.9% of these things now. But at what cost.

I've just had my stereo installed. And the installer has left little presents for me around the car.
On the 1st day I got my car back, I got burning rubber in the cabin. I found a rubber grommet from the firewall had been placed in the junction of my extractors. It could not have fallen in there like that. Nice hey.
Yeah little things, panel not screwed on properly, amp set to HF for the front speakers, which meant my nice front door drivers had been turned off. Gains set too high on the amp.
In the end I might as well have done it myself. 8-)

start a new thread mate.

kit go to the installer during the busiest time of the day or even week, and then complain about the various problems, and keep on demanding to see the manager and for a refund.
i have had to do this to one mech who did a s**t job a few years back, ended up getting the labour he charged back.

I'm meeting up with my last installer on Sunday for some fine tuning.

But if I was still in Melbourne, I'd love to pay that mobile installer a visit 8-)

Maybe so, but you're bound to be more careful on your own car than any installer will.

I've done my own sound installs, and initially got my alarm 'professionally' installed. I had to finish it off (boot release not wokring, and remote start not working). I've also added a trip comp, climate control, and re wired the whole dash.

Auto electrics aren't hard.
