After a good 12 months in the making i finally managed to complete the finishing touches on my custom audio install last night. i reckon theres a good 200 hours of fabrication work in it (thats including all the trail and error and rework stuff which i wasnt happy with)
{DESCRIPTION}
The design criteria was simple. it needed:-
*to be completely removable to allow the car to be returned to stock standard condition
*integrate well with the original interior of my EL XR6
*A focus towards sound quality rather than boomy decibel earbasher
*I need to actually use my boot with enough room for adequate storage and access to the spare
{DESCRIPTION}
Started off by taking a fibreglass mould of my boot and then worked around that using mdf and body filler to create 2 seperate sealed sub enclosures. They both measure approx. 1 cu.ft each which is tuned to match most 12 inch subs.
{DESCRIPTION}
The amp rack was created using a simgle piece of mdf cut to size and covered with sponge and audio felt. As you can see from the reverse shot alot of time went into planning the position of each component and was a bloody nightmare!
{DESCRIPTION}

{DESCRIPTION}
The front stage consists of DLS splits with the tweeter and mid-bass controlled seperatly from the crossovers in the headunit

{DESCRIPTION}
So now the whole system consists of:-
*Clarion DXZ776USB headunit
*Soundstream tarantula 4 channel amplifier (front stage)
*Alpine Class D mono amp (subs)
*DLS splits up front with clarion 4-ways in the rear
*2x12 inch pioneer subs.

its a bit of a bitsa of components but as a whole and when tuned correctly have come together rather nicely. Im very happy with the result.

Car needs a wash now! haha

Install looks tidy - a-pillar pods do look nice and those DLS grills sure do look good - I bet though your kicking yourself for not spending a little more time with the filler on those sunken areas....just need a little more bog and some polyfill to really clean it up....looks smick though
