hey just wondering does anyone have an 7" flip out (out and up single din) LCD Screen in there top din spot on an el? if so does it clear the dash facia or does it hit (pic below)

I had one in my EL, it did/does hit the dash. My solution was the mount the unit further out so it cleared. There was enough screw hole options so everything worked out ok and relatively easily.
I have a bigger problem with the same unit in my BF, it'll hit the shifter unless it's in D.

That would be your only option. Before I converted my car to manual, I was able to use the lower DIN, and have nu clearance issues. With the manual Shifter, the screen just clears the gear lever, and definately hits the dash where you have circled.

cheers. i assukmed it would but its an expensive excercise to test. some custom work to the facia may be another option. ill see how it goes.

that was one option i considered. I really want to keep my head unit as its very good at wat it does and has plenty of features. Also i only want to spend where i have to.
The original concept was to have a 7" display and run a PS2 to it and sound through the AUX in on my HU. im thinking of modifying the radio souround and the way it sits. |

if u have a head rest screen, it doesnt cost very much to put it in under the h/u and you should have plenty of clearence

wont the shifter block my view? it might not be a prob in the auto's but the manuals would get blocked?

i've done headrest screen below headunit and its fine for vision in my auto when shifter is in D.

that is pretty much what im gunna do except i want to got he other way around. I went out to my car and in 5th the view will be blocked. Although i wont be using the screen while driving the less blockage the better.
Ive done a quick mock up of what i want. (dont laugh. Its a 5 min job made in paint. Proportions arent right either so ill have to get measurments and check it all b4 i start)

i have my dvd player inthe standard radio postion and the screen under that. can see the screen easy even when it drive. with a manual when u have the screen on you just may need to have it in 2nd or 4th which should cause any problems

the problem with ur drawing is that you would have to make a speciaa bracket for your headunit as there's only 2 slots and they above that
