This has probably been posted before so apologies, but the battery in my key fob for a BA XT went completely flat, I've put a new one in and no surprise it doesn't work. The dealer wants to charge for sync-ing it up :x, but I know it must be easier than that. Is there any way to re-sync it thru button presses like the older models can. Its the 4 button remote (Lock, Unlock, Boot and red alarm)...Cheers for any help given

yep you can relearn it the same way as ef-au
it should be in your owners manual.
you need to find a new dealer, one who wont charge you for doing something that takes all of 15 seconds to do

basically all you need to do is :

Key to first click

hit rear demister button 3 times, straight away

after door locks cycle, press door button on remote

locks cycle again, turn key off

walah all done

the remotes dont normally lose theyre coding when u change the battery, because the remote is coded to the car not the car to the remote, ie the remote will always put out "x" signal and the car is trained to recieve it. I'd say it just needed re-learning all along. I know for a period of 2002 build months they had BEM issues where the remotes wouldnt train and something else wouldnt work like it should, and to fix it they replaced the BEMs in affected cars... im sure it was like the first 2 months of BA build time, but ill check now and let u know

also, given that only a tiny handfull of BA's are out of warranty, even a flat remote battery is a warranty issue... so just take it to the dealer and tell them the remote doesnt work and it's a warranty issue... even lightbulbs are covered by new car warranty

edit: just checked the relevant service bullitin and the bem issues were/are for vehicles built up to 11/11/2002...
