Hey need help with replacing my front speaker for my 96 fairmont ghia as it is damaged and the noise is doing my head in. If i replace it with new speakers, just say pioneers 6", will the twitters still work with it or will i need to go out and by all new splitter speakers? and If i do this, will the stock amp still work?.....or am i just best off going to the ford wreckers and getting old speakers as thats what i plan on doing for the 8 inch at the back as that is blown too.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!

am pretty sure the fronts are run by the headunit on premium sound, if you replace them with a 2way or more then id suggest disconnecting the tweeter in the dash, pioneer 6" will fit, just depends on the RMS as to determine there sound output

hope this helps a bit

Hey Dude,

Dunno about the E series but when i disconnected my door speakers the tweeters still worked in my BA. So i reckon if you put pioneer's or something in the doors the factory tweeters would still work.

Cheers,

+1. tweeters will still work because they run off there own wires, might just get too much high frequency sound with more then 1 tweeter each side IMO

do it once do i right! get a set of splits for the front and get rid of the stock tweets. the difference will amaze you. $150 for some entry level splits will do just fine.

Stock premo head unit can do 25WRMS per channel. So you'd be looking for speakers in that range.

Factory tweeter wiring is spliced off the main speaker wiring, they just use capacitors and inductors behind the speakers as filters. So if you buy new splits, you will have to do some new wiring or cutting of exisitng wiring.
