Most likely to stop theft. But why anyone would want to steal standard speakers is beyond me! Maybe you could re-use them on your new speakers.

They're called 'TORX' screws, you can get a bit set from Jaycar/d**k Smith for ~$20 that'll have all the weird bits you need for just about any screw. Handy, as other screws in the later Falcons are also TORX (steering wheel and seats are BIG torx screws).
I replaced mine quickly, and didn't have any problem, once I realised the speaker grills don't come out, pull off the door trim, had the right screw bit already, out -> in. done.

I also had no trouble with mine, straight swap. And the covers arent 'poo' i think they actually look quite good, especially if the speaker you put behind them is coloured, which they hide most of the time, but you can see if you look at them. Perhaps calm down a bit and then have another go at it, but dont go doing things like ripping the covers out of the trims as you will end up ruining them as well.

haha no worries, any time mate, im always one to make others laugh, just look at my car... tried to spray the bonnet myself to get out a few dings, ended up loosing the glossy look :@ been working on it ever since! all my mates laugh at it when they see it, so if you know how to get that mirror look back!? LET ME KNOW! they also laugh at the time when i turned too early reversing out of a parking spot, and smashed the right side of my car into a pole! that was bad!

Try a light rubdown with 1200 wet/dry and then polish with a buff.... that all i can suggest without lookin, i used to work in the mitsubishi factory paintshop, but for what you have described the best thing to do is get it done at a panel shop or buy a 2nd hand one the right colour
