Just bought a jvc headunit to replace my high series in the ef fairmont ghia.
Twisted all the wires together n insulated to just test everything before soldering,
and the rears speakers arent working.
Anyone had the same problem?

FR-FR
FL-FL
RR-RR
RL-RL
the fronts work, but looking at the wiring diagrams, the rears run off or through the amp.
Just want to get the rears running, maybe even if i bypass the amp all together.
Hopefully dont have to run wires from HUnit down to rear speakers....

Advice very welcome.

OK stupid question - but I've been caught out in exactly the same situation - once it was all hooked up did you actually turn the balance to the rears? I know, sounds dumb, but I re-wired a stereo once before I realised I hadn't turned the balance
Other than that, it sounds like you might need to run thru the amp like you said (but I'd be kinda surprised if there was NO provision for rears without an amp..)

If you want to run the rears without the amp, there should be standard wiring for the rear speakers in the car as well as the amped wiring.
If you look under the parcel shelf from the boot, you should see more speaker connectors. Swap these in and it should work.

lol i have thought about the balance but havent looked yet, just coz i thought it
would be set some where near the middle to start with :P

behind the hunit, u unplug the main plug with most of the wires coming off it
and theres another plug in the back and it has the four the two positive n negatives
for the rear speakers coming out of it. So i cut those wires n hooked them up
to the rear speaker wires from the hunit plug.

but i'll check my balance tomorrow.

cheers

have you swaped the black to the white plugs on the speakers?

when i fitted a single din to my ef i cut the plug off with the 4 wires and soldered them to the head unit and wsapped the plugs over to the parcle shel speakers

Saw what u guys have been talking about, those standard rear speaker
wires zip tied up, pulled the wires out of their plugs and slipped them on to
the speaker terminals, now its working ;)
thanks for everyones help
