Hey I have been thinking about a manual coversion but my ef is a colum shift auto. So would it be a lot of d**k about for the mechanic? Or do I just need the normal surround that is around the steering colum? I know that I will have to get 2 bucket seats cause mine is a bench. And this is my other question, is the mounts that the buckets bolt to on the hump that runs down the middle of the car either I missed it or it's not there does anyone know for sure if they are or not? And also any estimates on what a manual gearbox would cost? I haven't seen a standard ef stock manual are there many or if any? Then comes the question is an xr6 gearbox right or which one should I be looking for? And my last one I'm just looking for some feedback from people who have done the conversion if there have been any problems in the car after thy got it done?
Cheers. |

hi mate
ive done the conversion in my ef. you have to cut a hole in the floor where the shifter goes, cut the surround from another ef with auto on the floor, i used tec screws to hold it down, but the problem about the hump bit where the seats bolt down you have to cut preety much the whole floor out of a ef with auto on the floor and also cut yours out and swap it around so youll have the shifter housing and the seat mounts, you can either weld it down or srew it, but check for any gaps because if found with mine any gaps and the exhaust heat comes up through the floor it get hot very quick, also you need new carpet or u can cut yours to fit heres my thread i posted a while back should cover anything i havnt. its a very easy job , i didnt find it too hard at all post1079505.html#p1079505 cheers corey
