From what i have had from alipine to sony and now Rockford Fosgate, now Rockford Would have to be one off the best brands out there, only brnd to come with a Birth sheet, as ive got 2 X P2 rated at over 300WATT RMS, these's are priced at the $350 - $400 mark, top quality, sensational.

Now there is another step you can take which is the P3's, rated at over 500watt RMS. theses you would be looking for around the $600 mark.

But then again, you pay for quality not total power ect.. lil bit of extra money you save come a long way..

Then you have your alpine, S series priced around the 300 -400 mark rated at 300watt rms, there good, but i found Rockford far better Quality.

cheers

RUSTY

Alpine Type S and Type R are damn good subs also, they both retail for about the amount your looking to spend on a sub.

I have the Type S 12' and its bloody awesome! :)

The JL W7 are a great sub although not sure how they are relevant in the $300 - $400 price range. You wouldn't evern get a second hand one for that. Even a blown up one would still fetch about that price.

I'd look at Phoenix Gold, Earthquake and Alpine Type R.

For my money in that price range i'd go Type R.

If you can strech your budget a little then consider some high end stuff second hand such as IDMAX, or DD which can be had for around $600 second hand...
