Not out to destroy the bank but just after some decent quality 4" speakers and some decent mini 6x9's.

Anyone have any recommendations? Will be running off a JVC headunit and eventually be amped.

Could be 5x9's im not sure, the guy at alberts kept referring to them as mini 6x9's so thats where i got it from. Looking to spend around 500 so not a massive budget.

eek, which alberts was that?, they usually know their s**t.
Anyway, is that 500 all up? For both sets of speakers?
If so, look into some 4" MbQuart splits, and some 5x7" Alpines for rear fill, should come to about $500 with some bargaining

4" struggle to play below 200hz, 6.5" generally play to 50hz easily enough.
Do as suggested, pod it up.
NA Fairlanes have 6" rears dont they? Dont muck around with 5x7s or 6x9s. buy some decent 2/3way coaxial 6" speakers and drop them into the holes. Budget $150 MAX to rears.

Fronts, if you only want 4" then give yourself about 200 max to spend, otherwise you will just be wasting money on them.

With $350 you can get pods ($50-80), and then some very good 6.5" splits, maybe some Hertz and Alpines. Stay away from Boss and similar brands.
