I got a Ef Fairmont Ghia with a premium sound system and want to upgrade my front speakers or splits, wanting the speakers to sound a little more crisp and eliminate that little bit of distortion they put out when cranking up high.

anyway would anyone be able to recomend some speakers that would suit?? (Please dont recomend Pioneer) i think they are a 6- 1/4" speaker in the front door?

i was thinking a set of Kevlar splits by response audio from Jaycar.

any suggestions, please

i cant say ive owned cadence or that ive known anyone with their speakers to have any problems, but for the money spent i do not like the sound.. It all seems to be about looks and name with their stuff.
Depends on what budget your looking for; id reccomend jl, focal, dynaudio or bostons - not the cheapest stuff tho.
For bang for buck more along the lines of good pioneer and alpine etc.

all about how much cashy you wanna throw.

yea, pioneer rates a hell of a lot higher than cadence IMO

dude, pull your head out of the magazines and stop listening to all the marketing blurbs and hype cadence have, and go listen to some decent gear

pioneer mightnt be the best available, but for the money you'll spend, pioneer is pretty good, and cadence simply doesnt rate

Just checking though...... Your speakers may not be your only problem if you're cranking that up loud. Be careful it's not a combination of crappy speakers and a distoring headunit..... I'm surprised more people haven't suggested this already....

s**t; your right - i didnt even noticed that he said hes using the premo sound HU as the amp for the front!!

I got a huge quality jump in my stock speakers when i went form the premium sound dbl din HU to a propper amp, like totaly new speakers..

That said its still not good enough atmo and ive just got delivery of some new toys.

When I replaced the standard cd player with an alpine unit (that still used the MBUS stock stacker) It made a huge difference, although it wasn't long until I bought Sony splits, then installed my old amp.
The s**t amp in the world (maybe not the s**t) will still work better than a stock headunit, even at the same volume. That's why they design External Amps.

No point arguing really, i believe in one thing and you in something else, i can admit the fact that pioneer make the best value for money audio gear but i can't say it is better then cadence :(

f**k Tool... Cadence, a well marketed US piece of crap.. Kinda Like a Commodore... Try Boston, Focal, High End Alpines... They are the kinda stuff that is the best, but JB Hifi and places that push lots of stock quickly dont stock these things, have to goto a specialist car audio to get them.

This... Coming from you... F**k...
Now you know what you put the rest of the site through over 7/8 of your life on here.

The front channels on the High Series head units are only 25W RMS per channel, and that is pushing it. You will not find a decent speaker out there that will run on that kind of power. You'll end up with the same problem, but sounding worse, after having spent a few $$$.

You will have to invest in an amp for whatever you want to do, and run it via the speaker level inputs.

Unless your nice to me and I can tell you how to put internal preouts on the high series head unit... :D

I got JBL's running in mine.. One of the GTO series, cant remember the model, but they are pretty crisp and clear, running off an Alpine amp. Hardest thing to do it find a speaker with a depth of no more than 56mm (I think) otherwise the magnet will hit the window channel. And no, you cant make a spacer, as it will push the speaker too far out that it hits the door trim.
