I just picked up a 03 model Ba ute, for a pretty good price off my old man 10g-68000 kms.
I left most of my previous install in my old car except for the 2 subs and amps. So i have 2 focal 10 inch subs, an jl e4300 4 channel amp and a alpine v12 mono amp. What would be the go with fitting that in the space behind the seats on a ba ute?? |

it all depends on the size of your enclosures. i would think sealed would fit better as they are smaller. find out what size they need to be and dummy up some enclosures in cardboard and see if they fit. you will need to make them thinner to squeeze them in but with the allowable width you should be fine. just make sure that they arent too shallow as the sub will hit the bottom of the box. when you make up the carboard ones, remeber to allow for the thickness of the board you will use to make the boxes.

there is a member on here who did an excellent install behind the seats in his b-series, just search through the pages you will find it.

My local car audio store puts subs in the tray, with custom vents entering the cabi flooding it with bass. They swear it works, im yet to hear it though. Best way to put something big in. Works best with a ute lid. Doof, doof

Yeah, But i don't like the idea of having audio equipment in the tray, i emailed alberts car stereo in guy replie back, come see him he will have the kettle on and will draw up a plan. |

Thats why the hardtop covers are good. Pioneer make shallow 12" woofers for utes too. Bout the best option.

Be careful putting sub in the tray and holes into the Ca, unlike the old XH's and so on they are not a single unit, also I believe its illegal to do so due to altering the structural integrity of the car, keep them in the cab, most car stereo place do have boxes ready to go for au-bf utes or can easily assemble them.

There is plenty of room behind the seats for subs, you can easy fit 10" subs, I've even measured up a boxed JL Audio 12" W3 that will fit behind the seat and they are a fairly big box!
This is what I've done in my ute... I've got a 21L box and you can see there is still plenty of room left for bigger subs. |
