Whats every one opinions on the double din units im looking at one to replace my single din pioneer, whats a good brand looked at some alpine that's about it really

Youll have to confrim it but I think the double dins dont sit in quite right without cutting into the steel bar behind the dash or mounting it sort of bottom out a few millimetres. In my opinion Id go a cheapo brand like Eonon, and with the $500 or so saved, you can buy the GPS add on and a cat module for the steering wheel controls.

whack in a 7inch or larger touch lcd and hook it up to a carputer running centrafuse or similiar

money isent a problem i like my sound and only best will do lol "looks around waiting for some old person go dam kids and there music lol"
but i like the looks of the alpine might lean towards that option

yer i like that option too, im planning out the install for my own car, but for me money is a bit scarce at the moment so i plan to slowly obtain bits as funds allow,

i had a quick play with center fuse not to bad what i worked out i can run my eee pc "mini computer"
next problem how would i go about with the speakers is there some module i can buy to connect to my laptop that will give me control of my amps front and rear speakers?

yer i found there wasnt much information on that, there is somewhere but i was thinking hook it up to a line in on a head unit then the head unit will split it into front rear and subs, if u look enough i think u will find a module that will avoid a headunit all together

jvc make some nice touch dvd units and not all that pricey..i think about 750 for the top of the range?

but with a car pc you can do much more than a jvc unit u can connect a car pc to the obd port and if u get more advanced even tune it on the fly.
