I think you will find it is the Amp as that is what I have been told. I spent $1300 on the head unit $400 for the front speakers decent subs wiring ect, ect, ect but ran out of money for a decent amp so that was around $150 WOOOOPS!!!!!!

I have run power one side and signal the other. I have also had the speakers running on the head unit with out the high pitched sound so I would have to agree with the five or so installers I have spoken to, so am off to spend some big bucks this weekend on two new matching amps to go under neon lit perspex.

Lets hope it works or I will be spewin. hehehehe.

Does anyone else want to confirm this one more time for me before I spend all this money?

Ok a number of things could be causing your problem the good news is that most of them are easily fixed.

1. Run signel (RCA) cable down one side of the car and power down the other. Never bring them together and if you have to cross them at right angles do not run them parrellel.

2. Ensure you are using a reasonable quality cable, no need for any big budget stingetr cable just not the $15 autobarn one, there plugs fracture inside and cause earthing problmes, also the shieilding is very poor at noise rejection. I suggest about $25 - $40 on a decent RCA cable

3. Earth needs to be solid to the amp and must be at LEAST the same same as the power cable. Use 4 or 8guage.

4. Earth must make good contact. dont just bolt it to the fixture point, rub back the area with sandpaper or a wire brush so it is exposed bare metal. You'd be amzed how many time that fixes the problem.

5. It may be the amp itself although i expect this is not the case, try everything else first.

6. It may also be poor earthing of the headunit. In some circumstances f the headunit itself is poorly easrthed then it uses the earth line from the RCA to make an earth and hence the hum.
