i think i may hav got a dodgy wiring for my system... there are 2 things... as soon as the volume gets high the amp will switch off and the red led light (protection) will come on.. then a second later it will turn back on only to do the same thing..... i was told that it might not be earthed properly which is on one of the screws on the chassis of the car behind under the seat..
And then whilst the car is running i can hear the revs thru a high pitched noise in the speakers hooked up thru the amp... and even when the cars not on it makes this annoying constant distortion... AHHH im too new for this sorta stuff!! help

hmmm if the gain is turned right up that could be a problem especially if your cranking the system, i think the difference between the cheap and the more expensive amps is that the dearer amps like alpine RF etc handle the punishment alot better.
if you turn the car on while its parked and give the sound system abit of a thrashing, leave it for 5-10 mins and see how hot the amps running it possibly may be over heating |

1: how big is your power cable, and where does it run?
2: where is your amp mounted 3: what speakers/subs are running off the amp? 4: where do the RCA's to the amp run? grrrr.... i need sleep

i got a 2 channel amp wiring kit which had all the proper cables.. its running under the trim along the doors and the positive is running one side and the remote and the rca's are running along the other side of the car.. the amp is mounted on the back of the back seat and the sub is just in the boot..
ive just got 6 by 9's and since i used normal frequency and not low frequencies i can hear a very high pitched whining noise thru them... as soon as i switch it to low frequency i cant hear it... its a sony 12" sub.. although i heard they're bad i got it free... and ive got new jbl 300 watt 6 by 9's.. but even with just one of them on it still whines... ????

yea no matter how high or low i have it, it makes the noise... would a bad rca cable be the problem u reckon?? cuz at one stage my amp shut off each time the back seat it was placed on was up, found out that the seat hinges cut into the remote cable when the seat shut back... so the rca cable could have been cut along the line???

i was going to suggest head unit (HU)
i had a cheapie in (just a temporary) and had the same revving/high pitch problem, once i got my good one, it all magicaly disappeared! as the others said, check yer grounds, lives, rca etc, replacing a head deck isnt exactly the cheapest option.....try a friends??

yea it would piss me off if it was the HU cuz its a fairly decent pioneer mp3 but im nearly positive it is the RCA's.. cuz ive just used to wires from the old rear speakers and put it into the high frequency input instead of the low frequency RCA.. .and since the niose cant be heard at lows im just running the subs off the RCA and the 6 by 9's off the speaker wires in the high freq input and everythings alrite now cant hear it!!!
and i went a few steps further with the grounding and now its fine!!! such a relief!

thatst the same thing that happened to me. The back seat hinge made a slit in the remote cablle which earthed it and nothing worked. But i taped it up and never gave me a problem. Just a question are you running speakers wires along th power cable. Because engine noise can be made with speaker cables and power cables next to each other.

the rca cables were on the other side.... damn this is confusing i didnt think ahead as to which output i should have put the 6 by 9's in.... once i put them in the 3rd and 4th i found that it has a bass boost that doesnt work for the 1st and 2nd outputs which the subwoofer was in so i switched them around and the subwoofer worked so much butter but now the 6 by 9's are makin that stupid whining revvin noise and i even put the wiring back the other way when it wasnt makin the noise and its still makin that NOISE!!!
