Hey everyone!

I have recently bought a 8inch Pioneer 120W RMS sub to put in the parcel shelf in my EB. I only got a 8 inch coz I only want a little extra bass and don't want to take up any more room in my boot. Its a free air sub anyway so I think it should work ok in the parcel shelf. Anyway... I am trying to work out what amp I should use to power it. I have been looking at a Kenwood 250w (max) amp. Its a 2 channel but can apparently run bridged at 120w rms. Which would suit my sub. I only wanna spend like between $100 and $150 for my amp. The sub is 4 ohms and I heard from a friend that if I bridge the amp channels to run the sub I will make the sub 8ohms. I guess I'm just asking whether or not it will make it 8ohms and if so, is that bad for my sub? Will it make it sound crap or something?

Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question, im just not that knowledgable with amps etc. Thanks!,

Cheers,
Rob :)

It will run fine dude - bridging the amp wont change resistance. The resistance will only change if you run two or more subs and will depend on whether they are in series or parallel.

Basically, the idea is to get as much RMS wattage as you can afford.
Personally, id be looking at getting something that does atleast 200w rms, so the amp doesnt work as hard. But i guess thats up to you :)

If you are on a budget, you could always look at the www.caraudioaustralia.com forums, always lots of good quality second hand stuff avaliable.
