I ran the rears across the floor under the carpet to the light in the centre console, and for the fronts to the illumination in each footwell.

from what i can gather you want to hook into the plug going to door loom, have you replaced the door looms, or have you replaced the body loom, with a ghia one.?
or have you just extended the wires and want to hack in at that loom, if this is what you mean, I don't believe you'll have wires running to there for the courtesy lights being a gli. i would recommend adding the other courtesy lights, and then hacking into them as above bit of a b**ch but it's not that bad to do, admittedly I still need to hack my wires and make the final connection.

I have replaced the body loom with the ghia one and the door loom with the ghia loom but it didn't have the plug for the door courtesy light. Now what i want to do is to get the light working by hacking into the door loom not going past the door, is there anyway to do this? otherwise the only way will be to hack into the footwall or any of the courtesy lights inside (this is what i don't want to do.)
Any help would be good.

Ah ok, it sounds like you have an ef1 ghia door loom, possibly body loom, have a look and see if the body loom has any excess wires.
If so open a door and measure for 12 volt with a multimeter or just a test light.f so hit up a pick a part for a door out of a gli smash it p to get a couple pins out of it or what not whack it in cut in there and you should be good, other wise sorry to say but your going to have to do it the long way.

Ok, I think i have ef1 ghia looms all round body and doors. There are no excess wires on the body loom. If i open a door do i just check on the door looms if they have 12 volts or was it the body loom to check on?

it was the body loom and if you have no excess wires, you wont have any to check on, sorry mate but ef1 and maybe 2 ghias didn't have courtesy lights in the doorcards, just rear map pockets, and the woodgrain.
Yeah you needed el looms really, ahwell I guess your stuck doing it the hard way unless anybody else can chime in.

What do you mean you still need help, you know what wires can be leached footwell lights, rear console light, overhead light, keylock etc.
no quick fixes, unless you get the correct looms

To use a loom without modding it, you need one from a DF LTD, NF Fairlane, DL LTD, NL Fairlane or EL Fairmont Ghia. They are the models in F or L series that had courtesy lights in the door trim map pockets.
Or try a reputable auto electrician but is that cheating? |

Brett Exactly how I did it! Not the best way, as it means that all four door lights turn on when any door is open. I have melted lenses and heat marks on the side of the rear seat cushion from the rear door lights being on when closed. On an original setup, does each door light come on individually only when a particular door is open? Mike

On an original setup, does each door light come on individually only when a particular door is open? Ex factory, all of the courtesy lights are on when the roof lights are on. That is, lights in front footwells, door trims and rear of centre console. So yes, when one or more doors are open all the courtesy lights are on. And they all dim down to "off" at the same time too. It'd be interesting to see the functionality changed to individual door lights coming on. Re the seat fabric heat marks, maybe high series cars have a different shaped rear seat-base that doesn't get touched by the trims while the doors are shut? My Futura rear seat started to get marked from the added courtesy lights in the door trims (see pic). By the way, my BF only has courtesy lights in the front door trims.

No, the Ghia seats contact the hot lenses when the rear doors are shut.
