Hey - I know this is for car audio discussion, but I figured someone in here will know.

I recently bought a new TV, DVD / VCR Combo, and a 5.1 surround setup.

I was all excited, until I couldnt figure out how exactly to plug it into my TV or VCR/DVD Combo drive, and get sound out of all the speakers.

My DVD/VCR Player (NEC Brand) only has 2 audio outputs (left and right).
My TV (LG 52") doesnt appear to have audio out (but has a million other connections - and what the hell is a "component" connection?)

The guy at the store said all I had to do was plug it into the audio out on my DVD, and the amp built into the sub would take care of the rest.

Thats all great and all, but I want sound out of 6 speakers - not 2.

:(

Do I need a new DVD Player?? (I only bought this all last month) or did the guy sell me the wrong speakers??

(and yes - it was the same guy that sold me the TV, the DVD player, and the speakers)

Hey does the DVD have any plugs on it which suggest it will take a digital connection? Or coax...

Component connection is for video signal... its the best way to have video signals going from one device to the other.

Post up what models of what stuff you have... should be able to tell the best way to connect it all....

did ur 5.1 surround come with an amplifier? cause the amplifier usually splits the sound into 6 speakers. 2 fronts, 2 rears, one centre and one subwoofer. and all u gotta do is plug the audio out from the DVD player into the audio in of the Amplifier. They are usually Red and White. the yellow plug is the video. hope that helped :S

phong =P~

I cant see a model number on the surround sound speakers. its "LAVE" brand. the cables all plug into the sub. There is 3 inputs into the sub (front, rear, and sub/centre - but my DVD VCR only has a Left and Right output)

The DVD VCR Player is a NEC NDT42

The TV is an LG 52SZ8R
