hi guys,
i have recently obtained an amplifier its a bezerk, us-audio, i dont know anything about it and cant find out anything on the net. how can i identify its peak watts? i want to run just a kenwood 8" 600w peak sub and i have installed an 8 guage power cable with a 60A fuse, its rated at 500W. im worried that if my amp is too big ill blow the fuse!! cheers |

12 V x 60 Amps = 720 W. Your 500 Watt amp will not get close. What are the fuses on the AMP rated at? Id be guessing 40A or 2x 20 Amp Not to mention you would be lucky to get 500 watts out of it. Dont even bother measuring Peak Power because it doesnt matter in the long run, just worry about RMS. Either way you will be fine.

Use your rms power and factor in the efficiency of the amp.
As was said though I doubt that thing will blow a 60A fuse...if it does it is probably about to catch on fire.

I thought you were saying the cable is rated at 500W... If that's the amp then really you've already got the number you need.
To work out the maximum power your amp can do, check the values of the fuses on the amp as was said previously. Volts x Amps = Power Since you know what Volts your car peaks at (14.4V) And you know what your fuses are rated at (?A) Then your maximum possible power for that amp is 14.4 x total fuse value

And 14.4 is absolute maximum voltage, you'd be down around 13.5-14.0 when drawing full current. |
