i heard that the standard amp only puts out 100wrms, either that or the cabling can only take 100wrms, but i may be wrong.

But if i were you i would get a new amp as the stock one only ran an 8" sub which would require heaps less power than a 12"

Standard amp is around 100rms from all accounts. It will run it fine but dont expect earth shattering bass.

If anything driving a 12" is better than an 8" as it will most likely have a higher sensitivity and produce more output for the same power .

Run an 8 gauge power cable and earth cable for the poor amp. Alot of its power is restricted due to the pissy size of the factory cabling.

As Pyro said, dont expect anything earth shattering, but for a $20 investment you will get closer to the 140 - 150WRMS figure from the factory amp.

The amp will handle 4 ohm and yes the factory sub is 6 to reduce the amount of sub. basically the lower the ohmage of the driver the more power that will be produced but at a cost, the amp has to be of better quality especially running under 4 ohm. running under 4 ohm also produces more heat in the amp due to more load.
