well, my 2nd hand head unit didnt come with brackets. i used the ones off the ford deck, but the backets of the ford deck wouldnt line up on the head unit.. a few rounds of gaffa tape later, the head unit is stuck to the bracket and the bracket is screwed into the origional position

drill new holes in your ford bracket to line up with holes in your new h/u. simple. end of problem. we've all done it

im stuck with a double din mounting bracket.. yet im putting single din in.
im gonna get some thin flat metal n bend up my own brackets.. at the very least ul need 2 bends.. (one to stop deck falling and one for screw, maybe one to stop it going up but i reckin 2s enough)and they dont have to be the most accurate either. easy.

geez, it was hard work reading this thread. no-one said that things will just *line up*, nothing does, its murphys law.
just do what everyone else has said, ditch that stupid cage, drill/hacksaw/weld whatever the ford brackets to fit the deck, and kebam, you have yourself a perfect install

This is what I did, though you only need 1 bend. 2 pieces of flat gal sheet about 1mm thick 20mm wide and around 120mm long (long enough to cover two screw holes in side of HU plus mounting screw) Fold at front to line up holes in dash. Measure and drill holes in brackets for screws. Be sure to use screws that came with HU.

Aimed at gros20 i believe. If you redrill the original ford brackets, they will bolt straight up. Easy to remove, and solid.

wow has this been a easy thing made hard well here it is NO it wont line up NO do not use the cage YES use the original brackets and YES drill new holes ok here we are on the back of the bracket the is a hole a bigger hole than the rest cut it off makes things easy then move to bout the middle of the bracket where there r 3 little holes in a (L) shape depending on which way u look at it
now if u drill a hole inbetween the top left and bottom right of the (L) in line with corner that is the perfect spot to drill hope this helps any question just ask

some head decks (Kenwood) dont have the 2 screw holes for factory brackets , but you should be able to get the frount screw into the frount bracket hole.
at the back of your head deck there should be a screw hole, get some of that secure wire from bunnings and bolt it to your firewall.. then bolt it to your head deck as your puting it in..... drunk kzykrl! hope it made sence..

Drilling new holes is so easy but! And its not like you have to be dead accurate. Just make the holes slightly larger and you'll be able to shift it around. Then do the screws up tight.

problem is the stock brackets arent flat, they have slight bends in them. My pioneer HU is straight. How do i go about bending it flat again - just take to it with a hammer?
