Very professional. However I bet you are starting to get edgey coz It is taking longer than you thought. I know last time I worked on my car I was.

The viewing angle is pretty good actually. The first one I had (audiosonic from kmart) was s**t house and unless you looked dead square into it it was whitewashed and terrible. This one is pretty good, better than the more expensive ones I also demo'd at stratties. Obviously being LCD you do get a bit of variation in the brightness from different angles but where it sits in the dash it's highly watchable from all seats in the car.

Once I get it all in I'll post more pics from different angles.

EFfalconsrule I'd like to get it in and done but I wouldn't say I'm edgy. Working on the bodykit and prepping the rest of the car for the respray was a different matter though!

Thanks for the comments guys :)
It's taken alot of time and fiddling but atleast it'll be unique and different to what everyone else has (a recurring theme with the whole car! :) )

That's certainly taking shape and looking good, hats off for sticking with it - unfortunately with this type of work it does take time and persistence - everything takes time to dry and cure, and you can't rush it.
I'm not sure what finish you're after, but if you want to sort of simulate the texture of the plastic dash, you can daub the paint while tacky with a clean paint brush - test this method first on something else. I've found it to work well and it does hide imperfections that become noticeable with smooth finishes.
You can try some resin + hardener carefully poured/daubed into the rear of the plastic frame to help strengthen the assembly.

Yeah thanks dude. I think you'll find after a lot of time and effort you'll end up disappointed with the result.
I've used the paint brush daub on a trip computer install - http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=71. I found although the bordering was nice and smooth, it just didn't match the surrounding plastic - you can put a few light coats over the daub marks to smoothen the harshness out.
I've used the same on my XH climate control facia as well.

I'm not too concerned with trying to put any texture or grain in it, I'll just to it smooth. The interior is pretty dark too so it's not like it'll be under bright spotlights where it'll stand out.

If you were referring to the DVD player as per the first post I got it from strathfield radios for $150. This is it here:

Unfortunately I've made some negative progress. I put on a few more coats of highfill but with the cold, damp weather here it mustn't have been properly dried when I started rubbing it back and buggered it up in a few spots taking chunks out around the centre LCD surround bit. The really thin bit at the top just under where the headunit will sit has cracked as well so that'll need more attention now. I dunno how I'll go glueing that though because it's so thin. I'll have a play with it when I get home from work and then again tomorrow morrning and see what I can do. As snap0964 said though it's all very time consuming waiting for paint/bog/glue to set and dry :(
