Hey all I have just purchased a sony picturebook (laptop) for the car and hope to mount it either in the glove box or somewhere above the stereo. Having been a DJ I have a ton of songs and this is perfect.

So how do you plan on wiring that up to the head unit to play the music off it?

Ahhhh funny you should ask.

I have an alpine HU and alpine make a cable with RCA sockets at 1 end and the plug for the stacker at the other, so it gives you an AUX input, then a cable 3.5mm headphone to rca from lappy to the other cable and hey presto all works

I guess it depends wether the HU has an aux input. Some of the higher end ones do, and I anly stumbled onto this cable the other day. I will post some pics when it is all up and running

So a stacker usually gets plugged into the AUX?

I have an AI Net head unit and the stacker gets power from and sends it signal to the head unit from this 1 plug. I am guessing the rcs cable just uses the signal in and converts it to an rca for the use on an aux input.

From what the fella at the car audio shop said alpine also make an adapter for an ipod so you can control the ipod from your HU.

Thats why I like ///Alpine

most of the high end units have just a standard rca input on the rear of the head deck for aux inputs, pioneer and alpine are the two major ones that i know of that use the stacker plug/rca adaptors. My jvc dvd headunit just has the 2 rca plugs in the rear
