hey guys, just was wondering how to figure out which wire is which when installing a new head unit (JVC MP# player).
if there is some guide to tell you which colour wire is what (red/blue is battery etc etc) that would be great!! is there any other tips on installing the head unit.. plus what screwdriver did you use to get the small screws out of the mounting tray,

I bought a KD- LH2000 JVC headUnit some 3 years ago and it hasnt missed a beat.
HeadUnit wires White & White Black - Front Left Grey & Grey Black - Front Right Purple & Purple Black - Rear Left Green & Green Black - Rear Right Red - Accessories Yellow - Constant 12V Black - Earth Brown - Cell Phone Orange White - Dimmer Blue - Antenna Blue White - Amp on These are all garenteed to be correct as they work in my ED As for the stock Factory wires its a matter on using a closed circuit tester to find the power cables and just connect the wires to the head unit in pairs to find which speaker they belong to.

These are standard colours used by radio manufacturers, the Ford colours are differant.

The Ford Colours are whats on the wiring diagram.
The standard colours are what you find coming out of most Head Units. Or pick one of these up from Super Cheap. They connect directly into the Ford wiring which you can then solder onto your HU. They cost around $18 and use the standard colours which are clearly labeled.

i bought the wiring harness.. connected it all up.. everything is running sweet.
now ihave come across one slight problem.... how would i go about monting the head unit ... i hav a JVC mp3 player, and there are no screws that match up to the factory head unit, and i tried to screw the mounting brackets onto the jvc but it sticks out too much forward.. any ideas? should i drill into the HU and try and match it up or is there any other option for security. i dont want to have the HU loose

DONT drill into the HU, try drilling new holes in the factory bracket, or make your own brackets up as I did.
