hey guys im planning on putting in my alpine head unit tomorrow it aint nothing to flash but its got all the rightoutputs etc for a starter system...still capable of providing for a pretty schmick system.
Anyway just wondering when i pull the stock head unit out of my eb II faimront how easy its gonna be to know which wires go to wat wire on the head unit (head unit has a wire diagram letting me know which they are...).....willthe eb head unit have a diagram on it to let me know which wire is speakers n power etc?.....also would anyone know off the top of their head if there is much wire to play with once the head unit is unscrewed and i am able to pull it out?

When i stuck a pioneer unit into the falcon it was all pretty easy. Took me about an hour from when i first started. Before you start, get yourself a multimeter or a test light. Then unscrew the panel, and remove the stereo. To figure out which wires are for the speakers, check for the pairs. There should be two pairs if you have a base model. After that, make sure the key is off and using a multimeter or check light, look for a wire with 12+V. This is your constant power. Then turn on the key and check the other wires until you find one with 12+V also. This is your ACC wire and comes on with ignition. Then chuck your key lights on and find the new line. After that, find out which is the earth (black), and you should be set. Its all pretty straight forward. I had a fair amount of room lengthwise in my wires so you should be right. Just cut the wires (or splice) and join them to the new plug. If you cut the wires, it might b an idea to leave the original plug behind the dash hanging on the remaining wires. Makes it easy to find if you ever go to sell it

That being said, in order to screw the deck in id suggest using the original sliders off of the old deck. Just mark out some more holes down the side, and hack away with drill. Make them slightly larger than the screw, and it will allow you some room. With mine, a pioneer, i set it back further than standard. The cover that should go around the fascia just sits back in the hole nicely, and doesnt make it stick out at all. Schmick. Now all I have to do is screw the dash back together and screw the deck in. Its been like it is for around a year now, and hasnt moved so it must be good
