If you look closely at the window winder cable, you will see that it is exposed. It will collect dirt and grime and the cable will stuff out.

Try these from Ebay. I have been buying these from him for quite a few years now.

Oh yeah? Similar pricing I see! You swear by their quality SWC?

Have you had any issues with yours Toquin?

The only issue I've had issues they sent me two rhr instead of one lhr and one rhr. They fixed it up though. Otherwise the rhr seems to muck up once a blue moon. Pretty sure it's to do with the window runners though. :-) they're good blokes at carsrus. :-D

I've had ecperience withe the expossed cable windo winder and it was not good. Winder did not last and the cable stuffed up. I have had no isues with he one with the outer cable guide and if you look at the Ford units you will see they have the outer cable.

Your call but for a couple of bucks I know which ones I would be using.

Swc, I'm not knocking the insulated ones, if I have known about them in probably would have got them. But, the way I see it is you're spending extra on a problem you likely won't have. I feel if you're getting that much crap inside your doors to ruin your window regulator. You probably have bigger issues :-P

Go with what you want mate.

I can assure you that inside the doors will pick up dust etc no mater if they are reasonably clean. Cables will pick up the grit and you will eventually have issues. A couple of extra dollars for a little secuity.

Made my point, your cash, do as you wish.

Have you had exposed cable regs fail on you before? I'm just curious because I have never had this issue when any of the cars I've driven. Is this a common problem?
I'm genuinely curious.

Also, this insulation. Is it on every piece of wire, or just where the cable enters and exits the motor and joins the rail?

I have had exposed cable units fail. Yes and I have had sheathed cable units fail as well but they were the original factory ones, so quite a few years old will plenty of use.

The winders that I posted are cable sheathed all the way from the motor up to the rail.

Mine have the mentioned conduit from the motor to the rail. The only exposed cable is the wire that runs down the rail connection to the window mount.
