G'day all,
I recently installed a new head unit and 4 speakers into my 94 EF GLi, and I was told by a workmate that EF's had tweeters in the dash, saying he'd replaced his and made a big difference to audio quality, so I had a look and there were no tweeters but what looks like the mounting points for tweeters if they were there. My question is, what kind of tweeters would be best to suit the car and how much trouble would I be in to wire it all up? it doesn't appear to have any wiring so I'd have to make it all up. Thanks in advance ,Doug P.S I noticed when installing the rear speakers that there is what seems to be a hole to mount an 8" sub into the parcel shelf, is this worth doing or is the quality poor since it won't be in a box? |

Hey mate it is possible to install tweeters there is aset on ebay at the momment that should be a direct fit.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-FORD ... 27cd64ff62 If you have an amp the rear speakers should be running from this so if your head unit has 4 speaker out puts you should be able to wire the tweeters to one of these directly from head unit. The only fidly part would be taking the dash off. I also fitted a JBL free air sub into my parcel shelf as I am not keen on sub taking up boot room, it is a pretty good sub designed for free air, I find it to be quite good and worth while, again to do this you would need to be running an amp. Any questions let me know |

Does anyone know the dimensions of the bracket that holds the tweeter? Thinking of making my own?
Cmon4 have you got some? Or do either of you know where I could get dimensions? |

If you want to wire the tweeters up to the HU you'll need a crossover in line, or you'll need some decent EQ adjustment in your HU......

Is this thread still going? It's a little old
My tweeters are mounted in the side view mirror plastic just above the door trim.

I resurrected it instead of starting a new one!
I was originally planning for that location but decided against it as I want a stealth look! |

Ahh,
I have read things on here where people have said most tweeters sound horrible in that location. As far as I know tweeters are designed to be pointed in the direction of the listener. I too have wanted to put them in the stock spot. But it was a bit of cbf and I had the pieces of plastic off the door trims with all the wiring anyway

Yeah they need to be pointed at the listener but I've sussed already and I think I can mount them under there well and still have them directed at occupants. I just need advice on running the wires.

How is the easiest way to run them basically? I will remove the kick panels and pull them through from the doors then from there up to the tweeter location I am unsure of how to do it.

My advice would be to go straight up the side of the dash (next to the grey rubber thingo on the door frame) and straight up under the a-pillar molds. I'll try and get a photo of what I mean.
So pull you wires from your crossover back through your door and then run them up the side of the dash on each side.

I had mine done that way back when I had my tweeters on the dash.
I've done a fair bit of mucking around with the wiring, so if you need anything else. Just ask
