Hey guys, i need for help on a few things if you van help me lol,
Im looking at getting 2 kicker 10inch s10c subs and the recommended box size is 0.66 cubic feet. What would happen to the sound and performance of them if i put them into a 1.62 cubic feet box? The reason i ask is because i scored the box (brand new) off a mate of mine and if i could use it, it would be very convenient  Any help would be great Cheers lowlane98 |

In saying that, is the recommended box size of 0.66 cubic feet enclosed or ported? If it is for an enclosed box, you might be able to turn the 1.62 cubic box into a ported box for your subs. Might sound better than an oversized box. Depending on the box design, you can separate the subs using some MDF boards and have the vent come out between the two, this will reduce the size of the chamber while at the same time keep the dimension. Hope that makes some sense.

Hey mate,
Thanks for the reply, the box size was 0.66 cubic feet in an enclosed box, and the box i got at the moment is also enclosed, i mainly listen to hip hop, rap ect. I should just get 2 12s but i figured while the box is here i may as well utilize it. Cheers Lowlane98 |

I'd say that .66cuft would most likely be for a sealed enclosure. The 1.62cuft box could work okay if you could manage to separate/divide the enclosure into 2 separate chambers.
That'll give you roughly .8cuft internal volume per chamber minus whatever the subwoofer displacement is, which could very well bring down the final volume per sub close to what Kicker recommends. How feasible it is to modify the box though is another story. I've had to do it before (diving a single chamber ported box into 2 even sealed chambers) and it is a hassle, so might be simpler to just build another box to suit really. |

Cheers Lowlane98 2 x 10" subs with well vented box can hit the low notes for hip hop/rap/RnB etc very well. 12s will be easier to get low bass, but not necessarily quality...if you only care about loudness, 12s will be the way.

well powered amps and tuned 12 inch subs will s**t on quality and sound of a 10 inch brand of sub and amp

plus if is noise you want port the subs though the parcle shelf with piping. using correct diamentions with the piping...... will blow your head lol
