Hey mate..
We sell them at Jaycar.. i am using them in my centre console as indicator lights for my accessory switches.. red is off.. blue is on.. The LED are a 4 legged LED.. Bout $6 ea.. the four legs are in no particular order.. Grn +, Com -, Red +, Blue +.. I just cut off the Grn + leg and wired up only the red and blue ones.. Came up looking great.. Cheers, Nik |

now this is going to be the killer, how bright are they? really i need about 1000 to 2000 mcd.
i'm heading in to jaycar tomorrow to get some and have a play but i guess my only other option is a red and a blue at the rated mcd i need with a relay if i did go with a tri colour over the separate leds, is there anything i could do to boost the output? give them more than the rated 20mA current? tinfoil? suggestions?

Obviously off 12v you will need to run a current limiting resistor.. this reduces the amount of current running to the led.. if you allow more current through then the led will be brighter but will be more likely to blow..
I have 5 in my centre console near the gear shift and when on red they illuminate my roof lining and front of interior.. when switched to blue they light up my whole interior.. so they are p[retty bright.. Depends purely on your application.. Cheers, Nik |

i make the statement now, this is going to be the coolest mods seen for a while and ppl will be doing it like you wouldn't believe

oh, dont worry kev. it'll blow you away.
need some help. if i have four leds like this each drawing current of 20mA and 3.6 volts off 13.8v that my car outputs, can i put resistors in like this because it makes things quite messy if i can't. also lets say i use 6 leds, what is the wattage i need for them? i worked out ~.216w so around 1/4 watt. but i wasn't real sure
