I recently installed a sound system
Alpine: Head unit Clarion: Speakers (55W RMS) Sub (500W RMS) 4 Channel (50x4 RMS) Mono Block (860W RMS) Aerpro: 1 Farad Capacitor I did all the wiring myself, however the only bit of wiring that I am unsure of is the wiring of the capacitor. One of the guys at Autobarn told me to do this, and he has been installing systems for a few years. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? Attachment:

Looks fine to me.
What do you expect? drawing 100(ish) amp pulses are going to flickers lights. ARE you using 4GA cable? larger cable minimizes voltage drop especially over length. Is your Earth of same size? Things to change: Add another earth strap to the car, EL's only have a couple of earths so add a Nice fat earth from the battery terminal to the Alternator mounting bolt OR Engine mount. (Get an AU earth strap, one it goes from battery to alt to chassis/k-frame) Make sure your batteries optimum, i mean these amp's are no free lunch, power is power something is going to give. I'm against cap's, if you need something to buffer, throw in another battery in the boot like the pro's do! Also, it might NOT make a difference, but try moving the cap pos. wire directly to the mono amp, rather than reverse feeding both. (yes i know it all joins anyway, but being directly closer might make the difference.)

h0w is the cap ment to work if it isnt connected to an amp?
2 positve 1 neg 12v+ in 12v+ out (amp) earth is this right from what i can se there its having power thrown at it then its all getting earthed is the cap actually discharghing into the mono or not? not having a go maybe i miss understand your diagram |

does this look better
btw caps are awaste of time unless your running big time power im still running standard earth strap and stadard broke as bat and i dont get all that much headlight dim .. maybe check voltage with car running and stereo turned right up

The capacitor is wired fine in the first diagram. Don't bother rewiring it.

The Cap is connected to the monoblock through a distribution block.

Based on that fact my Mum is the best around! |

As EVL098 said, the capacitor is connected to everything via the distribution block.
When the capacitor is charging, the power comes in via the connected cable. When the capacitor is discharging, the power goes out via the connected cable to the distribution block and to the amps. It can't charge and discharge at the same time, so it only needs one connection. |

How big is the cable going from the body to the negative battery terminal?

Aero pro are one of the worst brands ever made I had one and it made absoulutly no difference go for Rockford or something ther is a big draw from your battery so bigger cable will make it worse to be honest a bigger battery would help

Bigger cable is going to make it worse? Stick to giving advice about things you actually know because you have no idea about electricity.

What a douche. I'm not sure what the lights dimming is from. My ED xr6 wagon dims heaps - running Pioneer deh-p9850bt, 500wRMS 4chan, 500wRMS monoblock. However 2001 mitsubishi lancer. Has 1000wRMS 4chan, 2x1000wRMS monoblocks running 2x15" subs, and the lights do not dim at all...and that system fkn pumps, way louder/more powerful than the xr system.
