i have a factory premo sound here which i am wanting to install. My question is:
can the CD stackers be modded to play burnt CD's? if not, is it possible to wire up a new stacker to replace the factory one while still retaining the premo sound Head Unit?

cda is the format that is used from.. cd's from a shop! if you were to burn your own songs onto a cd as an "audio" cd that would work in your stereo, walkman etc that is cda format. THat is the only format a factory e series stacker will read!

yeah they read normal burnt cd's fine.
i dont see why you wouldnt be able to run a different stacker off the head unit though. long as it is the same brand and has the same plug.

If you a referring to an E series system then you can get a mp3 stacker from Alpine to work with it, you will need a cda-634 stacker, a Ford adaptor, and an Alpine M-bus - Ai-net adaptor.
Easy.......
