ok i want to mount my amp here, with room behind the seat so you see the amp with the seats folded down. How has this been achieved by others..? Plus is there a way to make te fold down seats lockable??

The seats arent lockable.
Mounting amps on the back of the seats isnt too bad, they dont keep as cool as they should back there though, being that they tilt backwards 10-20*, but for front stage amps which dont get too warm or even mounting an EQ, its not bad. Surprislingly even if you have an LPG tank, most amps will fit between the back of the seat and the tank.

If you're going to do it neatly, you should make sure you wire it up while the seats are down, to ensure enough slack in the cables. Nothing would be worse than cutting your power cable off to the right lenght and then not being able to fold it down.

Hehe.. good point however most people would actually install the amps and run the wiring when the seats are down anyway, unless people like a real challenge and isntall them with the seats up through the boot

oooh.... You might be asking for trouble there. Do you mean that once you fold the seats down, you will see a nicely mounted amp from inside the car? Might get pretty hot in there.

I'm with ya. You want a backing board, similar in position to where the back of my sub box is. Refer to "show off your boot". I'm not sure where you would mount this easily to make it look good. Quite doable though.
I take it you only have amp/s and no subs? What you could do is build a sub box, without front panel? (if that makes any sense) This would give you air space and something to carpet to make it look good? |

so do you mean when the seats are folded down you look into the sub box ( i got a 12inch pioneer) and mount the amp in there??

Alright, so you do have a sub. This will be a totally different story then.
What I actually meant was, build a shallow subbox, with an angled front. It wont have a front panel. Mount the amp inside the back panel of that box. Make it look pretty. Because you do have a sub, you will need to tell us what it's in, how it's mounted, where it sits etc. someone Might be able to come up with something. |

the sub is just in a standard type box i got from autobarn just to get it in there but i want something more perminant, i guess a shallow box taking up the space in the boot access area is what i am after so i am wondering how to best secure it so it wont move (from both driving around and"idle hands"?

Look at "show off your boot" Thread. My install is there (which i flogged from MRE40L. You might be able to adapt that. If you don't like the whole board, you can cut out an "Oval" that will fit exactly in the area while your seats are folded down. Mine ain't going no where
