Yeah 3 batteries puts you in SS class straight away even with only 1 woofer and amp..

The only other classes that allow you to run more than one battery are Street C (max of 2) and Street Max 3-34 (max of 2). Of course extreme class almost anything goes...

and yeah i think next audio show I'll pay a lil extra for a 240V outlet.

It is really up to the individual how much you wish to spend and it is the law of diminishing returns. It’s not hard to get 135dB, it’s a bit harder to get 140dB, a lot harder to get 145dB and very hard to get 150dB.

In this case I am chasing an Australian Record so you have to spend a bit of money if you expect to be the loudest in the country but you don’t always have to spend heaps to get good results. I’ve seen good numbers with cheap systems designed right, and guys with expensive gear perform quite poorly. The idea of this thread is twofold. To show people what you can do if you can afford a good system for outright SPL and to show people the tricks and hints that can be used to get the best from whatever gear you have so even if your budget is only $1,500 then you can still get some good SPL numbers. My rule of thumb has always been it takes $1,500 to get a reasonable SQ or SPL system. Buying second hand you would get 2 x good subs and 1 good monoblock + cabling for $1,500 and in the right car should be able to get 145dB no problem.
In some SPL classes 146db (approx) would get you in the top 6 scores in the country…

I am building an SPL car with another mate who is on a very tight budget.
2 x 15â€￾ Jaycar Vennoms ($75ea) single, simple box and 1 x Alpine 1001 Amp so whole system under $1,500.

This system cost
SP15S - $1,399 rrp
CAD15 - $1,399 rrp

$8,400rrp on equipment (4 x Amps & 2 x Subs ) +
$750 on box +
$1,000 cabling and connections.
Total $10,000

You could use much cheaper woofers and amps and get within 3-4db of this figure though.

At the end of this project I might get 4 x DLS classic 12’s (rrp $249) and 1 amp and see what numbers that gear gets in this car just for comparison. So that would be $2,000 worth of audio which is much more in the budget of the average punter….

Yes extreme class allows a heap of stuff including fully welded steel doors bolted shut unlimited batteries and amps etc… a number of the cars have 4nch thick perspecs windscreen’s.

Some pics of the bus bars I will be using to connect the 0g cabling.
Now there is 4 runs of 0g from front battery to the amps then later 8 runs, 4 from front battery 4 from rear to 8 amps.

Sweet as Aaron, good luck with getting all that going, look forward to seing the final results! :)

LOL if you could afford it you should just get one of those MTX Jackhammer subwoofers!! LOL 369lbs of subwoofer 24' big (i think). God damn that would pump out some bass. :D

Yes they are prety tough looking. Not suer what they're worth though? Probably need a lot of power just to get them moving. 6,400rms might just get them started.

Funny thing is in Street Max 1-2 class I could run 2 of them...

They are 6,000rms and are a 22â€￾ sub. X-max is 50mm one way which is awesome.

You’d want to weld the box up pretty well to contain it…

It also has 6.5â€￾ voice coil, most subs even the really good SPL ones have 3-4â€￾ voice coils…

Yeah so its a really strong built sub!! Would look very impressive if one were put in a back seat!!!

LOL i reckon you should go with that!! Say good bye to the back seat and chuck it in thier :D You will need a lot of reinforcing to keep it stable thou as you said.
