Hey guys i know i ask a lot of questions but today went to look at subs and the sales person said that i could hook up a amp to my stock headunit and then run a sub through that. Is it hard? Do i have to sacrifice other speakers as he said something about using speaker connections?
Also is it hard just to get a bigger sub can i just unhook the 8 inch sub then buy some adaptor to plug into the old socket and then into new sub? Would the wire be strong enough? (to much power being drawn through) Should i look into getting an amp aswell as a sub? Was looking at the new 12'' pioneer sub 400wrms $189 then buliding a box to fit onto the diff arch? Can anyone help me with my queries? Thanks from dyl.

u wont need to build as far as the diff arch.
the part that drops down, forward to the seat u can fit 2c/f i think which is enough for 2x 12" subs. if u are on a tight budget get a lower wattage sub and cut the connectors of fthe 8" sub and hook it str8 in. however im sure u can get a multi channel amp eg: the one i have is 2x 120w +300w so i can run fron speakers from it, 300w to sub, and rear speakers str8 off h/u. (not stock) but i dono how well stock h/u will power rear speakers if u remove the amp.

Yep, youu lose speakers. Some amps actually have high level inputs. But this is not many. The best option is to purchase high level to low level converters. They cost about $30 from jaycar. They convert the speaker outputs from the head unit to RCA's for the amp. I hope this makes sense and is helpful (too drunk to form a sentence)

if you have a fairmont ghia ef like i do, check the drivers side of the boot behind the carpet (not the floor) and there shoud be an amp behind the black sheetmetal, disconnect the sub connections (2 wires across 4 connections) and wire up a sub in a box... i did it with a 12 inch pioneer sub and it works great

Hang on, Isn't the hump behind the seat the diff arch....... In which case, yes - the box will go ON the diff arch |
