yeh, i know what wires are on the H/U but the wires from the loom in the el have a different colour to the ones in the technical doco's section so I can't know which speaker is which to connect up.

hey all thanks for all the quick replies, I'm very appretiative but I finally worked it out. I used a 12V power drill battery to test pairs of wires to locate the difference between left and right speakers. Some of the colour's in the technical documents section were correct such as blue/white being power (also cause it was a fat wire, was easy to tell). I used a multi meter to find constant +12 volts (was pink/black) but all of the pin numbers on the loom were different to what is in the tech doco section.

It was an EL gli and said "sapphire" on the left hand side whatever that means so maybe a moderator should check the document and rectify any differences.

Cheers. :)

nah, I wrote ef at the start but edited to el when I realised what it is but your response was correct as the ef/el are the same wiring. This is the problem that needs to be fixed though by a moderator.
