Hey everyone, I recently installed fusion 6x9s in the back of my car and fusions speakers/tweeters in the front.

The problem I'm experiencing is with the 6x9s on the rear parcel shelf. When the music is between level 19 and 22 on my kenwood head unit, the speakers seem to go hard for awhile and then die in the a**. If I change song they seem good again. Anything below 19 seems to be good and they don't do it, but I wouldn't go above 22, as I don't want to ruin them if there's something gone astray with my install.

I am a newb with electrical stuff so I'm happy I got them to work at all. My mate said it's common, especially for 6x9s to do this if there isn't an amp running them as they don't have enough power. This problem seems to persist when I'm playing songs with lots of bass or have the bass setting turned up.

If anyone can shed some insight I'd appreciate it.

Yep agree with your mate. The speakers are drawing too much power for your head unit to handle

Probably actually your head unit limiting power or just plain not keeping up, rather than the speakers doing anything weird. A small 2 channel amp for the 6x9's will fix it- wait for boxing day sales or ask santa.
