That's because the original PS2 doesn't have DC input. That's why the BIG RED CROSS is through the picture of the old one. NOT through the picture of the new one.

Now why would they advertise an adapter for (top left hand corner) "items compatible with SONY PS2/ PStwo" that is not compatible with a SONY PS2?

Seems for the new PS2 Slim its easier to use that adaptor masmx shown.. For the old PS2 just use an inverter as i do, so much easier for that one.
