That's like the difference between wearing a casio watch and an oakley watch. The casio one has enough features to do everything you'll ever need and is relatively cheap, the oakley one is unnecessarily expensive, and for what? - just some stylish metal sculpting and street cred.

5.1 Surround in your car is a waste of money unless you intend to watch movies, which i don't. And especially when i weigh the $3300 price tag to the $1100 there's no deliberation to be made.

Seriously, there's a fine line between form and function, and that surround unit crosses it. It's only for people who show their cars or have too much money for no good reason. My system is gonna be perfect for me, and i wouldn't change any part of it.

But of course, each to their own.

Not to mention that the surround systems with the measly 6.5" screen like the 2 din Kenwood I was pointing out in my other thread, are way way over priced. And will come down with time anyway.
But I'd like a variant of the Alpine or the Kenwood without all the fruit and surround. So it can easily be obtained by the masses. The 2 din Kenwood is a very nice looking unit and would complement my EF Fairmont beautifully. But why does it have to have every single funtion known to man and have to be $3300. Why not another model that looks the same with just the basics for $1300. s**t me.

Actually the subs are perfectly matched to that amp. The amp runs 1000W RMS @4Ohm, so with 2 500W RMS subs @ 2Ohm connected to it, they're both perfectly matched - and that's the ideal setup.

Will be getting pics when they get installed on thurs. Like i said before, it won't be a custom install, just a standard box in the boot, but hey, it's the sound that counts for now.

Why don't you run your sub in 1 ohm?

...cos i can run them in 2Ohm and have them perfectly matched anyway :D

Anyway guys the system's installed, and HOLY f**k does it sound good. Unfortunately they didn't let me in the workshop during the install (Health n Safety n Ra Ra Ra) so i couldn't get any progress pics. BUT, i will get some pics of the completed system up before long.

Sorry it took so long, but here are the pics of the install...
Image
Head unit - day time glare is a bit of a pain

Image
Tweeters - very neatly done IMO

Showing the front splits and tweeters

Image
Lovely subs - like i said, standard box install.

Image
View from rear - plain but neat.

Image
DD Linear coaxials on rear shelf

Image
The amp - installed on the back of the back seat. Fits perfectly behind the box, and no heat problems.

Well there ya have it folks, i'm chuffed as hell with this system.

:P fantastic!

I'm loving this, I'm getting right into this. I'm doing things to my car now, just in the middle of brushing underbody deadener in my wheel arches now. Sharp intruding jolts over bumps have turned into softened dampened little thumps. lol

And watching you doing your stuff here man, just gets more more excited. Your system must sound, shakes my head, just great mate..!

Cheers..
