well i went out to the car this morning, checked the headunit and its working perfectly..havnt touched any of the connections or anything...so...could the heat have been a factor? the unit turning itself off to protect itself?

Nope, they can run hot enough to boil water on the heatsink... I'd say you have an intermittent short to ground somewhere.

problem found...front speaker terminals were hitting the door and connecting, problem fixed now..thanks for eveyones help

im js happy it didnt have to come into service we charge an arm and a leg, im glad i dont have to pay for it also good to hear you solved your problem. also if it ever is a heat issue (ie +110 deg c.) then it wont work the next morning
